Method 5 Photos and Images

Enjoyed browsing through the Flickr images. Am currently working on a project that my 5th graders will need photos. Wish they had the option of utilizing this site but district has it blocked. Will have to compile a list of images they need and personally select them for students - not the best choice but only option I have. Personally might open an account with one of these photo storing sites and utilize the services they provide for photo sharing.

RSS - Really Simple Syndication

Set up a Google reader account and viewed some of the staff favorites. Searched for a couple of my interests and subscribed them in my account. Links to some of my interests (never did see the link buttons as illustraed so I linked them here the old fashioned way ):

This application would be perfect for a friend of mine who gets most of his news on typical online news services. Will suggest it to him. I don't really spend a lot of time in this area but it is an interesting concept.

Cloud Computing:At first glance seems like a win-win opportunity to access applications and storage space that are cost free and easily/readily accessable anywhere there is connectivity. Have just recently started utilizing Google.docs and introduced it to a few teachers at my school. At first they seemed excited about the possibilites of having access to a file and being able to add/edit the document: ie. lessonplans. Recent discussions show they have gone back to traditional methods. After reading the posts concerned with security issues, future accessability questions, I don't know tht I will push this concept on anyone at this point in time.

Methods 1 and 2

I have decided to "participate" in an on-line course that will hopefully enlighten me in the social networking experience and how they can be used as tools to promote reading writing, and listening skills. Realistically don't know how far this journey will go with me (as one who just this week progressed from her dinosaur phone) but at least would like to know what this stuff means and not have a bewildered look on her face when exposed to these terms.
